Singing bowls are used all over the world for meditation, music, relaxation and personal well-being. In some Buddhist practices, the singing bowl is used as a signal to start and quiet meditation.

Handmade singing bowls are also called healing bowls. They are made of an alloy of seven different metals connected to seven astrological planets that create a number of different sounds and shades. The seven metals are: gold, silver, mercury, copper, iron, zinc and brass, and are represented as 7 different planetary influences.

Singing bowls are still produced today in traditional ways, in combination with modern techniques. New bowls can be plain or decorated.
