          Stevia is an ancient herb with a sweet taste, which is the best possible substitute for sugar. Stevia is similar in taste to sugar but is 300 times sweeter. Stevia contains no calories and is very healthy.

          Stevia around the world and in our country
          The biggest consumers of stevia in the world are Japanese, who use it as a sweetener since 1954. In Japan, its exports banned and more products are produced with stevia instead of sugar. In the United States it difficult to accept because of stevia affected interests of producers of confectionery and artificial sweeteners. After lengthy scientific dispute stevia is approved as a food additive in the United States. In the former Russian republics is also widely cultivated and used. In the European Union stevia is banned for use as a sweetener, with the exception of France. From September 2009 there run a test period of two years during which stevia is permitted. Because coordination with the European legislation HEI was ordered to withdraw from the stevia Bulgarian commercial network.

          About a year stevia was banned in Bulgaria, but since one of the companies won the case before the Supreme Administrative Court, now honey herb is available free on the Bulgarian market.

          Stevia is a shrub, the leaves of which are 30-40 times sweeter than sugar and extract levels up to 300 times sweeter than white sugar. It is rich in glycosides (steviosides), which are involved in the metabolism in humans and normalize blood glucose levels.

          Bile contains vitamins A, C, and those of group B, the minerals potassium, iron, zinc, calcium, magnesium, and selenium, as well as pectin, fiber and amino acids.

          "Honey herb" lowers "bad" cholesterol, improves the cardiovascular system, strengthens the immune system, promotes gastrointestinal tract, liver and calms the nervous system.

          Stevia is useful for teeth and gums protecting them from caries and periodontal disease. It has anti-inflammatory and antiseptic action. Besides the above qualities, sweet grass is a strong antioxidant and reduces free radicals.
