Lupine is used as a diuretic. It stimulates the excretion of urine. Treats conditions such as a weakened bladder or urethral blockage.
Lupine is a legume that grows both in the Mediterranean and in South America. The beans are traditionally consumed as a nut and are also ground into flour. For the flour, the lupine seeds are cleaned, the hard shell removed and toasted, then ground until fine. A sweet toasted lupine flour is obtained. It is characteristic of lupine that it does not contain starch, unlike many other edible legumes, but it also contains protein and fiber.
Sweet lupine flour is suitable for thickening soups and sauces, adding to shakes and smoothies or replacing eggs in various baked goods. Lupine can flavor traditionally fermented foods, baked goods and sauces.
Use: As a substitute for eggs - 1 tbsp. lupine flour and 1 tbsp. water replace 1 egg.
